Ransom Demands in Guthrie Kidnapping Case Hit Millions in Bitcoin
The kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie, mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie, has taken a dark turn as ransom notes demanding millions in Bitcoin have been sent to the family and various news outlets.
The notes, which were received by multiple parties, including Scripps News Group's Tucson station KGUN, threatened dire consequences if their demands were not met within seven days.
A doorbell camera caught a masked man with a gun tampering with the camera near the time of her disappearance in February. The kidnappers had apparently been inside Guthrie's Arizona home before taking her.
The FBI is offering a $1.1 million reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie's safe return, and it appears that the ransom demands are not the only mystery surrounding this case.
