Ravencoin Blockchain Compromised by Critical Software Flaw
Ravencoin's blockchain has been compromised by a critical software flaw that allowed attackers to add invalid blocks, threatening to erase four days of transactions.
The issue emerged on August 7, when an attacker exploited a weakness in the network and added an invalid block at height 4,487,776. Other malicious actors soon followed suit, producing their own bad blocks.
Two major mining pools, 2Miners and RavenMiner, have decided to rebuild the chain from just before the first bad block, which could result in the loss of completed payments and disrupt exchanges and users who rely on RVN transactions.
Ravencoin's price has plummeted by 17% over the past 24 hours, dropping to around $0.0029 and slashing its market value to approximately $48 million with $10 million in trading volume.
