Ravencoin Plunges 19% as Critical Consensus Vulnerability Exploited
Ravencoin (RVN) has been hit by a critical consensus vulnerability that allowed attackers to create invalid blocks, leading to a 19.1% price drop to around $0.00288.
The issue, which was exploited since August 7, affects nodes that accept blocks with manipulated height values, allowing an attacker to bypass the normal memory-intensive mining process.
2Miners released an emergency patch on August 10, rejecting forged blocks and advising network operators to upgrade. The project warned that transactions confirmed after block 4,487,775 may disappear if the recovery chain becomes dominant.
Ravencoin's official GitHub notes recommend using the 2Miners code for the mining problem until a combined patch is available.
