Ravencoin Price Plummets to Record Low Amid Consensus Vulnerability
Ravencoin's price plummeted to a record low after a critical consensus vulnerability was exploited on its network. The issue allowed vulnerable nodes to accept blocks that should have been rejected, putting several days of transactions at risk.
The first known invalid block appeared at height 4,487,776 on August 7, and mining pools 2Miners and RavenMiner began building a competing chain from that point. If their chain becomes dominant, Ravencoin could undergo a reorganization covering roughly three days of activity, which would affect transactions confirmed after block 4,487,775.
Exchanges Upbit and Bitget suspended RVN deposits and withdrawals while the network works to restore stability. The project has not provided a fixed timetable for when the competing chain will become dominant or when exchanges should reopen transfers.
