Ravencoin Users at Risk of Transaction Reversal Due to Deep Blockchain Reorg
Ravencoin (RVN) users are facing a potential risk of transaction reversal due to a deep blockchain reorg. The issue began on August 7, when a consensus exploit allowed nodes to accept blocks that should have failed validation. This led to the creation of a competing chain that excludes the exploited branch.
Ravencoin has warned that transactions confirmed after block 4,487,775 are at risk and may be reversed if the network undergoes a reorganization. The resulting reorg could span approximately three days, affecting multiple blocks and potentially hours or days of transactions.
For users, the key question is what happens to payments, deposits, or withdrawals that appeared confirmed but may now be removed from the accepted chain. A blockchain reorg can indeed reverse a transaction, changing the network's transaction history rather than controlling private keys.
Ravencoin exchanges such as Upbit and Bitget have suspended RVN deposits and withdrawals as a precaution, while Bitvavo also suspended deposits to avoid potential losses in case of a reorg. Users who made or received RVN transactions after block 4,487,775 should keep their transaction IDs and monitor their status once the chain stabilizes.
