Ravencoin's Blockchain at Risk: Four Days of Transactions May Be Rolled Back
Ravencoin, a blockchain built from Bitcoin's code, is facing a critical software flaw that could allow attackers to roll back four days of transactions. The project has been hit with a series of invalid blocks, which have compromised its security and led to a network split.
The first bad block appeared on August 7 at height 4,487,776, and since then, multiple mining pools have exploited the weakness to produce invalid blocks of their own. Ravencoin has released a fix for the issue, but patching the software does not undo what is already written.
Two major mining pools, 2Miners and RavenMiner, are rebuilding the chain from just before the first bad block on August 7. This move could erase completed payments and leave exchanges and users with missing transactions.
