Raydium Token Soars as Solana DeFi Volumes Spike
Raydium's RAY token surged 24% in a day, reaching $173.8M in daily trading volume, or roughly 77% of its market cap. The spike in activity coincided with Solana's broader on-chain activity, which rose alongside Raydium.
Raydium is an automated market maker built on the Solana blockchain and uses a central order book model to let liquidity providers earn fees from both AMM swaps and limit-order activity. It also functions as a launchpad for new Solana tokens through its AcceleRaytor program, sitting among the top trading venues on Solana by total value locked.
The recent price surge is not entirely unexpected, given that meme token launches on Solana have historically lifted AMM volumes. New token launches on pump.fun and related launchpads route directly through Raydium pools, which could contribute to the increased activity.
