Raydium's RAY Token Surges 24.5% as Solana DEX Volumes Soar
Raydium's RAY token saw a significant surge of 24.5% in the past 24 hours, reaching $173.8M in daily trading volume. This represents approximately 77% of its market cap, which is around $224M.
The protocol's architecture, borrowed from Serum, allows liquidity providers to earn fees from both automated market maker (AMM) swaps and limit-order activity. Raydium also functions as a launchpad for new Solana tokens through its AcceleRaytor program, making it one of the top trading venues on Solana by total value locked.
The surge in volume is likely due to the broader on-chain activity on Solana, with SOL's price experiencing a modest 0.6% drop to $85.89. This suggests active swap flow rather than passive holding. Orca, a rival Solana DEX, reported a 63% price surge with $348.8M in volume.
Raydium competes with other protocols on Solana, including Orca, Meteora, and Jupiter. Jupiter aggregates liquidity across these platforms, positioning Raydium as infrastructure rather than just a front-end destination.
