Real Jet Taps into Crypto Payments for Private Flights
Kenny Dichter's Real Jet has announced a partnership with Crypto.com to enable cryptocurrency payments for private jet charters. This move follows in the footsteps of other companies that have been accepting crypto payments for years, but the industry remains cautious about its adoption.
Dichter, who is also the founder and chairman of Marquis Jet and Wheels Up, believes that this partnership will not only expand the market by bringing new customers to private aviation but also increase the use of cryptocurrency as a form of payment. He notes that in 2001, he created the fractional jet card, making private aviation accessible to a wider audience, and now Crypto.com Pay is the next leap forward.
However, not all private jet companies are optimistic about the adoption of cryptocurrency payments. Some, like Outlier Jets' CEO Michael Farley, believe that owning cryptocurrency does not necessarily mean it will be used as a form of payment. He notes that only a handful of deals have been done using crypto in five years.
Others, such as BC Flight's CEO Thane Namy, are more optimistic about the potential for cryptocurrency to become a legitimate payment method. He believes that despite the additional complexities, it will slowly become part of business and a legitimate payment method.
