Real-Time Blockchain Monitoring Revolutionizes Crypto Security
Crypto security is evolving from periodic audits to continuous monitoring and automated risk detection. Real-time blockchain monitoring can identify abnormal activity as transactions occur, helping security teams respond before stolen assets are fully moved or laundered.
A recent incident on the Liquid Network demonstrated how quickly a protocol vulnerability can create enormous financial exposure. Attackers exploited a transaction-validation vulnerability, withdrawing roughly 4,000 BTC worth around $320 million from Liquid's reserves. The actors later returned 3,400 BTC, or about 85% of the amount withdrawn.
CertiK has developed AI Auditor, which achieved an 88.6% cumulative exact hit rate in evaluating 35 real-world Web3 security incidents from 2026. The system can analyze large volumes of transaction and protocol data to identify patterns linked to hacks, laundering or abnormal behavior. This technology can assist with code reviews and protocol-upgrade testing.
Automated responses are also being developed to detect suspicious activity earlier. Protocols could pause specific contracts, exchanges could temporarily hold suspicious deposits, and multisignature treasuries could require additional approvals following unusual activity.
