Record Longs and Weak Spot Demand Threaten Bitcoin Price Stability
Bitcoin's price stability near $65,200 is under scrutiny as short-term holders edge closer to breakeven. The 30-day Short-Term Holder SOPR metric has climbed to 0.997, just below the neutral mark of 1.0.
This means that current short-term holders are selling at a slight loss rather than a gain. Historically, attempts at breakeven in January and May have failed, raising questions about whether this latest attempt will hold.
The record high in Bitcoin futures long positions is also significant, with 361,000 BTC (about 57.62% of all open futures positions) worth roughly $23.4 billion currently exposed to any sharp reversal.
Futures market activity has increased, but spot demand has declined, leaving the $62,000 support level vulnerable if the gap between futures and spot activity persists.
