Red Notice Issued for Do Kwon as Wintermute Suffers Massive Hack

South Korea has requested an Interpol red notice against Do Kwon, the founder of Terra, who is 'clearly on the run,' according to prosecutors. They claim he's not cooperating with an investigation into Terra's collapse, which led to investors losing tens of billions of dollars. This move would make it extremely difficult for Kwon to travel internationally, given his passport has already been revoked. His current whereabouts are unknown.

The crypto market maker Wintermute was hacked, resulting in $160 million stolen from its DeFi operations. However, the company's founder and CEO, Evgeny Gaevoy, stated that their over-the-counter and centralized finance services were not affected. He warned of a disruption to their services for several days.

The SEC has claimed the U.S. has jurisdiction over all activity on the Ethereum blockchain due to its significant presence in the country. This is part of a lawsuit against crypto influencer Ian Balina, accused of promoting an ICO without disclosing he was paid to do so.

Both the SEC and Ripple are seeking summary judgments in their ongoing case regarding whether XRP is a security. A ruling in favor of the SEC could mean that Ripple's sale of XRP tokens violated American securities laws, while a win for Ripple would set a significant precedent for other crypto businesses in similar situations.
