Reform UK Lands £72 Million Crypto Boost Ahead of Mid-2029 Elections
Reform UK, a far-right political party in the UK, has received significant funding from two cryptocurrency-linked millionaires ahead of the mid-2029 elections. Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne have pledged £72 million to the party, with each committing £36 million.
The donations come as Parliament debates a ban on crypto-based political donations. However, due to an exemption in the Representation of the People Bill reform, the pledges remain legal despite being made from cryptocurrency proceeds.
Delo, co-founder of BitMEX, and Harborne, investor in stablecoin firm Tether, expressed their support for Reform UK's plans for government. They believe that the party should focus on policy development rather than fundraising.
