Reform UK Receives Record £36m Crypto Donation from Billionaire Ben Delo
Crypto billionaire Ben Delo has made a record-breaking £36m donation to Reform UK, the largest single contribution to a British political party on record. The move comes as Nigel Farage's party faces scrutiny over its finances and an ongoing criminal investigation into allegations of breached rules on political donations.
Delo, co-founder of cryptocurrency platform BitMEX, made the payment up front to avoid attempts to block it. He said he wanted a 'fair fight' at the polls, adding that Reform UK is the only party capable of turning around Britain's decline.
The donation surpasses the previous record held by billionaire Christopher Harborne, who gave £9m to Reform UK last August. Delo has become Reform's largest donor and his contribution represents a significant boost to the party's finances.
Reform UK has faced criticism over its financial dealings, including an undercover investigation that suggested senior figures may have discussed disguising foreign donations. The party denies any wrongdoing and is cooperating with the Metropolitan Police's investigation.
