Reform UK Secures Record-Breaking £72M Crypto Donations Amid Scrutiny
Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, has received a total of £72 million in cryptocurrency funding from two billionaires. The donations come from Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne, who matched each other's record-breaking contributions. This makes the combined amount the largest ever given to a British political party.
Farage welcomed the donations, saying they would allow Reform to contest the next general election on a level playing field. However, the move has raised concerns about the influence of cryptocurrency-linked figures in UK politics.
Delo's donation is notable, as he co-founded BitMEX and pleaded guilty to federal charges tied to violations of the Bank Secrecy Act in 2022. He was later granted a presidential pardon by Donald Trump in March 2025.
