Reform UK Soaks Up £4 Million Crypto Donation Amid Funding Scrutiny
The Reform UK party has received a significant donation from crypto entrepreneur Ben Delo. The £4 million ($5.4 million) donation accounts for 75% of the party's total donations in the April-June quarter, according to figures published by election officials.
Delo pleaded guilty to a U.S. banking secrecy violation in 2022 and was subsequently pardoned by Donald Trump. He announced this year that he would be returning to the UK from Hong Kong to involve himself in politics, citing concerns about Britain's decline.
The party led by Nigel Farage has faced controversy over its funding sources, including a £5 million donation from another crypto entrepreneur, Christopher Harborne, which was not declared. Parliamentary officials are investigating whether this broke rules on declaration of political donations.
