Regulated Crypto Exposure Surges as ETF Inflows Hit $2.6 Billion
Crypto sentiment has improved sharply following several key developments in the market. One of the most significant indicators is the influx of funds into regulated Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs). According to recent data, US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $1.92 billion during the August 17-21 trading week, while spot Ethereum ETFs added about $697 million.
This represents a combined total of roughly $2.6 billion in inflows, marking their strongest week since October 2025. The increased demand for regulated crypto exposure is significant, as it indicates that institutional investors are becoming more comfortable with investing in cryptocurrencies.
Ethereum has its own unique story, with demand coming from both ETFs and a corporate treasury buyer. BitMine disclosed another 32,447 ETH purchase during the latest week, bringing their total holdings to approximately 5.85 million ETH. This shows that Ethereum is not just following Bitcoin's price action but also attracting interest from other channels.
US regulators are moving towards clearer crypto rules, with the US Securities and Exchange Commission proposing Regulation Crypto Assets. This includes two tailored fundraising exemptions for certain crypto-related investment contracts, as well as a conditional safe harbor that could allow qualifying crypto assets to be treated differently under federal securities laws.
