Republicans Face Uphill Battle to Maintain Senate Control
As the November midterm election approaches, Republicans are facing uncertainty in their bid to maintain control of the Senate. Five of six seats considered toss-ups by Cook Political Report are held by GOP members, with only one located in a state President Donald Trump lost in 2024.
In Iowa, Republican Representative Ashley Hinson leads Democratic state Representative Josh Turek by four points, according to a Suffolk University poll. Hinson's lead is consistent across multiple polls, but the outcome remains uncertain due to Iowa's history of voting for both Republican and Democratic candidates.
The election will also see a highly publicized contest in Texas between Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and Democratic state Representative James Talarico. The two are deadlocked in polls, with Libertarian candidate Ted Brown drawing 3% support.
