Responsible Blockchain Adoption Must Begin with Financial Education, Says Tanzanian Educator

Tanzanian educator Antony Polycarp Mlelwa is making a strong case for responsible blockchain adoption across Africa. According to him, meaningful adoption must begin with financial education, and people should not enter cryptocurrency merely because they have been shown possible profits.

Mlelwa, who has a background in chemistry and teaching, entered the cryptocurrency market in 2017 and built his career on helping individuals understand not only the opportunities presented by digital assets but also their risks, limitations, and personal responsibilities.

He argues that blockchain education should not be separated from financial education, understanding wallets, networks, and smart contracts is valuable, but incomplete without understanding volatility, liquidity, diversification, fraud risk, behavioural bias, and capital preservation. Mlelwa founded DienAcademy as a digital entrepreneurship and technology education platform designed to make emerging technologies more understandable and practically useful.

Mlelwa's message of responsible adoption has taken him from classrooms and workshops in East Africa to international industry platforms such as Crypto Expo Dubai 2025, where he participated as a speaker, and the Corporate Blockchain Gala 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is scheduled to appear again at Crypto Expo Dubai 2026.
