Retail Investors Outpace Whales in Bitcoin Flow on Binance as Price Climbs
CryptoQuant has analyzed Binance data to identify a divergence in investor behavior as Bitcoin's price rose approximately 27 percent, climbing from around $60,700 to over $77,000.
During this period, the 30-day dollar-based flow total for retail investors remained near June levels, reaching $10.11 billion on September 12, only 1 percent below the $10.17 billion level recorded on June 6.
In contrast, whale flows declined to approximately $4.9 billion on September 14, a 28 percent decrease from the $6.8 billion level in June.
Furthermore, retail flow more than doubled whale flow, with retail investors selling following strong movements or local peaks and then re-entering positions later, according to CryptoQuant.
The differing behavior of investor groups is being watched ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's September 15-16 meeting, where markets are pricing in an approximately 90 percent probability of a 25-basis-point interest rate hike.
