Revised Clarity Act Seeks to Clarify Crypto Market Rules

Share

Senate Republicans have revised their Clarity Act in an effort to gain more support before a crucial vote on September 15. The bill aims to establish clear federal rules for the crypto market, addressing concerns from various stakeholders.

The revised legislation includes new rules for non-decentralized finance protocols, requiring entities that can materially control these protocols to register with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Lawmakers hope to address concerns from tribal governments over prediction markets by narrowing certain DeFi provisions to spot and cash digital commodity transactions.

The bill also clarifies rules governing crypto activities by credit unions, but Democrats have yet to support the latest version of the legislation.
