Revolut Brings Euro Stablecoin to Three European Markets
Revolut has launched its first stablecoin, EURR, in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. The euro-pegged token is issued by Bridge Building S.A., a Luxembourg-based entity owned by Stripe. Revolut says it will integrate EURR into its retail app, supporting multiple blockchain networks and transfers to external wallets.
The phased rollout will expand to other European Economic Area (EEA) markets later this year, subject to product, operational, and regulatory readiness. Revolut previously announced that it would withdraw Tether's USDt from the EEA and Switzerland by August 31. Remaining USDT balances will be converted into customers' base currencies after the deadline.
According to a Revolut spokesperson, approximately 2 million customers in the initial three markets will be involved in the rollout of EURR. The token will initially launch on Ethereum as part of the phased rollout. External wallet transfers will be available immediately for select customers and more broadly as liquidity builds.
