Revolut Customers Left Vulnerable in Sensitive Data Breach
A recent data breach at Revolut has left customers' sensitive information exposed, including their Bitcoin transaction history. The incident occurred when an unauthorized party submitted a request for customer data via a legitimate government agency's email domain, which was treated as lawful by Revolut.
The affected data categories include passports and driving licenses, selfies from identity verification, names, dates of birth, occupations, home addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs, account statements, withdrawal logs, and the complete transaction history, including Bitcoin activity.
Revolut has assured that customer funds were unaffected and that police, data protection, and financial supervisors were involved in investigating the incident. However, the breach highlights the risks associated with storing sensitive information, particularly when it comes to cryptocurrency transactions.
