Revolut Ditches USDT Amid EU Regulatory Pressure
Digital banking giant Revolut is set to drop support for Tether's USDT stablecoin by August 31st, affecting millions of users. The move comes after Revolut secured its own MiCA license in November 2025, which requires it to only list stablecoins that have met the EU's regulatory requirements.
As part of this wind-down process, Revolut will stop accepting new deposits of USDT on July 30th and purchases will cease on July 6th. Any remaining balances after August 31st will be automatically converted into each user's base fiat currency at the day's market rate.
This decision follows Tether's refusal to meet the EU's MiCA rules, which includes maintaining a certain level of reserve backing for stablecoins. USDT has already seen significant losses on regulated European venues since the bloc's stablecoin rules took effect in late 2024, with Coinbase and Binance among those that have delisted it.
