Revolut Hit with Data Breach as Hackers Demand Ransom
Cybercriminals have breached Revolut's security, releasing personal identification documents and verification selfies belonging to users. The hackers are demanding a ransom payment and threatening to escalate daily data releases if their demands are not met.
The breach occurred when a malicious actor used an email account from an authentic government institution domain to file illegitimate information access requests. Revolut identified the unauthorized activity, promptly blocked the compromised email address, and notified relevant authorities.
The leaked material includes identification credentials, personal photographs, complete names, birth dates, professional information, communication details, banking statements, and comprehensive payment histories, including cryptocurrency transaction records.
