Revolut Launches Euro Stablecoin Amid Tether Exclusion

Revolut has launched its own euro stablecoin called EURR, which is available to customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. The token is designed to hold a flat €1.00 value and can be redeemed at par value from the issuer Bridge Building S.A.

The launch of EURR comes after Revolut dropped Tether's USDT from its app, citing non-compliance with EU regulations. Revolut has over 75 million retail customers worldwide and over 16 million crypto users, giving it a significant market presence to test the adoption of EURR.

Revolut's stablecoin infrastructure is provided by Bridge Building S.A., which was acquired by Stripe in 2024. The company supplies the rails for the token, while Revolut provides the customers. Circle currently leads the euro stablecoin market with its own token, EURC, which has passed €400 million in circulation and grown 109.8% over the past year.
