Revolut Launches EURR Euro Stablecoin Without Germany

Share

Revolut has launched its first euro stablecoin, EURR, on August 26. The new token is designed to be pegged to the euro at a ratio of one to one and will initially be available to selected customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal.

The launch marks a significant milestone for Revolut, which has over 80 million customers worldwide, with more than 16 million using its crypto functions. The company claims that EURR combines the scale of its banking licenses with instant access to a euro token, making it an attractive option for users.

Interestingly, Germany is not part of this first wave of countries where EURR will be available. However, Revolut has announced plans to expand to further markets in the European Economic Area during 2026, subject to product, operational, and regulatory readiness.

The stablecoin is issued by Luxembourg-based Bridge Building S.A., a company acquired by Stripe for $1.1 billion in October 2024. The issuer is supervised by the Luxembourg financial regulator CSSF, which lists it as an e-money institution and crypto-asset service provider.
