Revolut Rolls Out Euro Stablecoin in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal
Revolut has launched its first stablecoin, EURR, in three European markets: Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. The company plans to expand the rollout to additional European Economic Area (EEA) markets later this year.
The euro-pegged token is issued by Bridge Building S.A., a Luxembourg-based entity within Bridge's stablecoin infrastructure network owned by Stripe. Revolut aims to integrate EURR into its retail app, with support for multiple blockchain networks and external wallet transfers.
EURR is designed to hold a value of one euro, backed by reserves managed by Bridge in line with EU rules under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. The token will initially launch on Ethereum as part of the phased rollout.
Revolut's exit from Tether's USDT in the EEA and Switzerland is also taking place, with remaining USDT balances set to be converted into customers' base currencies after August 31.
