Revolut has launched its first euro-backed stablecoin, EURR, in three European markets. The company began rolling out the token to eligible users in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal.

EURR is issued by Bridge Building S.A., part of Stripe-owned stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge. Initially running on Ethereum, the wider availability of EURR across the European Economic Area (EEA) is planned for later this year.

The ECB has strengthened its privacy commitments for a potential digital euro, stating that it would provide the highest level of privacy current technology can support. Offline digital euro payments would remain visible only to the payer and recipient, while banks would retain information required for compliance.
