Revolut Unleashes Euro Stablecoin on 80 Million Customers
Revolut has launched EURR, a euro-backed stablecoin, on August 26, 2026. The fintech's $115 billion valuation and massive user base give it a significant advantage in capturing adoption in the €650 million euro stablecoin market. Revolut's proprietary MiCA-compliant infrastructure layer is deployed directly into the wallets of its 80 million retail customers.
The issuance of EURR is handled by Bridge Building S.A., a Luxembourg-based entity owned by Stripe, which holds the necessary licenses supervised by Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier. Revolut acts as the distributor through its CySEC-licensed subsidiary.
This move comes as Revolut suspends support for USDT for EEA users by August 31, 2026, citing MiCA Title V which prohibits licensed crypto-asset service providers from offering non-authorized e-money tokens. This regulatory alignment creates a competitive moat, forcing users into a compliant ecosystem.
