Revolut Unveils Euro-Backed Stablecoin EURR with Wide-Scale Rollout Plans
Revolut has introduced its first stablecoin, EURR, which is backed by the euro and issued on multiple blockchain networks. The company has started rolling out EURR to eligible customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal, with plans for broader availability across European Economic Area (EEA) markets later this year.
EURR is fully integrated into Revolut's retail app and is supported by reserves held and managed by Bridge, a Stripe-owned company. The stablecoin maintains a value of €1.00 and can be used for international transfers, business transactions, and settlement.
Revolut developed EURR under the MiCA regulatory framework and plans to develop additional currency-denominated stablecoins through separate pathways. According to Emil Urmanshin, head of crypto and new bets at Revolut, EURR connects 80 million customers directly to on-chain finance, unlocking real-world utility that no traditional bank or crypto native can match.
