Riot Platforms Locks in $9.1 Billion Deal with Anthropic for Computing Hosting

Riot Platforms, a leading Bitcoin mining firm, has entered into a 20-year hosting agreement with AI company Anthropic worth up to $9.1 billion.

The deal, announced on August 11, will see Riot provide 191 megawatts of computing capacity, enough to power about 143,000 homes simultaneously, under a long-term contract.

The computing power arms race among AI giants has led to Anthropic locking in power and land through custom build-to-suit lease agreements with specialized infrastructure providers.
