Riot Platforms May Release Up to 1,500 BTC as Bitcoin Price Rally Continues

Riot Platforms entered into a $200 million Coinbase loan in 2026 with 3,977 BTC pledged as collateral.

The Bitcoin price subsequently fell far enough that Riot was required to pledge an additional 1,825 BTC in February, bringing the total collateral balance to 5,802 BTC.

However, the recent three-day rally has carried the Bitcoin price close to $78,000, its highest price in three months. If the loan-to-value (LTV) ratio stays below the applicable level for two consecutive days, Riot can request a release of collateral.

CryptoSlate calculates that the rally could place between 1,159 BTC and 1,547 BTC above the amount needed to reset the facility, depending on which schedule applies. The strictest schedule allows no release near $78,000.
