Riot Platforms Secures $9.1B AI Compute Deal
Riot Platforms, a Bitcoin mining company, has signed a massive $9.1 billion deal with Anthropic to supply compute power for its artificial intelligence operations.
The agreement covers 191 megawatts of capacity from Riot's Rockdale, Texas campus and will run through June 2048. Two five-year extension options could lift the contract's value to $16.1 billion.
Riot's data center business is expanding rapidly, with the company previously reporting $33.2 million in revenue from this segment. The Anthropic deal provides a significant boost to Riot's revenue horizon and highlights the growing importance of AI workloads in the industry.
