Riot Platforms Sees Revenue Growth Offset by Bitcoin Mining Decline
Riot Platforms, Inc., a leading player in the crypto space, reported its Q2 2026 financial results. The company's revenue reached $174.2 million, a significant increase from $153.0 million in Q2 2025. However, despite this growth, Riot Platforms reported a net loss of $(237.2) million and diluted earnings per share of $(0.68).
The decline in bitcoin mining revenue was a major factor contributing to the net loss. Weaker BTC prices led to lower revenue from bitcoin mining, which offset growth in data center and engineering businesses. Despite this, the company's diversification efforts seem to be paying off, with a shifting revenue mix.
Riot Platforms has been expanding its mining capacity, with deployed hash rate rising to 44.4 EH/s as of June 30, 2026, a 15.3% increase since Dec. 31, 2025. Additionally, the company's power optimization and curtailment initiatives generated $31.1 million in year-to-date power credits, reducing mining power costs.
The company's data center business continues to grow, with major leases and contracts supporting multi-year demand and long-term capacity delivery. The completed E4A acquisition has also strengthened operational integration, enabling faster build-outs, immersion cooling deployment, and increased equipment self-supply.
