Riot Platforms Soars on Massive $9B Deal with AI Pioneer Anthropic
Riot Platforms, a company that has pivoted from cryptocurrency mining to cloud computing, is experiencing a significant surge in its stock value after securing a massive deal with Anthropic. The $9.1 billion, 20-year agreement will provide computing power for one of the world's leading frontier AI labs. According to Bloomberg, this lab is reportedly Anthropic.
The deal marks Riot Platforms' second data center agreement, following a previous agreement with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in January. The company's Rockdale, Texas facility will supply 191 megawatts of computing power to Anthropic, which will be brought online in phases through June 2028. This significant contract is expected to contribute substantially to the company's revenue growth.
Riot Platforms' shares have already gained around 60% this year, boosted by growing demand for AI compute and the company's strategic pivot towards cloud computing. The recent surge of 4.5% in trading value indicates that investors are optimistic about the company's future prospects.
