Riot Platforms Surges on Stronger Bitcoin Prices and AI Data-Center Lease
Riot Platforms (RIOT) shares have increased by 4.6% today due to several factors, including stronger Bitcoin prices and investor follow-through from the company's recent business update.
The August 10 update highlighted a major long-term AI data-center lease at Rockdale, which could be contributing to Riot's re-rating as more than just a Bitcoin miner.
The company executed a 20-year lease with a leading frontier AI lab for 191 MW of critical IT capacity, securing about $9.1 billion of initial contract revenue tied to the agreement.
Riot's quarterly revenue rose 14% year over year to $174.2 million, while data-center revenue reached $23.2 million, providing evidence that its AI and hosting strategy is already contributing to results.
