Riot Platforms Unloads 4,300 BTC to Fuel Data Center Ambitions

Riot Platforms sold approximately 4,300 BTC during the second quarter of 2026 to fund its operations and an increasingly ambitious expansion into data centers.

The sales drew down one of the crypto mining industry's largest corporate Bitcoin treasuries, leaving Riot with 11,380 BTC worth around $666 million at a price of $58,527 per BTC on June 30.

Riot has shifted its treasury strategy to prioritize funding operations and expansion over treating its entire mined supply as a permanent reserve. This distinction is becoming increasingly important as the company transforms from a predominantly Bitcoin-mining business into a broader digital-infrastructure operator.
