Riot Platforms Unloads 9,665 BTC, Utilizes Collateral for Financing
Riot Platforms, one of the largest Bitcoin mining companies in the United States, sold 9,665 BTC during the first half of 2025 at an average price of $75,785.
This sale generated approximately $732 million in proceeds for the company.
The sales are part of Riot's strategy to liquidate mined Bitcoin and fund operations and growth.
In a separate transaction, Arkham data shows that Riot deposited 200 BTC, valued at roughly $12.86 million, with New York Digital Investment Group (NYDIG), a prominent crypto lender.
This move suggests Riot is utilizing its Bitcoin holdings as collateral for financing, a common practice among miners to access liquidity without selling.
