Riot Shifts Focus from Bitcoin Mining to Artificial Intelligence Data Centers
Riot Platforms is accelerating its transformation from a Bitcoin mining company into a major artificial intelligence data center operator.
The company has secured a 20-year agreement worth approximately $9.1 billion to lease its electricity infrastructure and data center capacity to companies developing and operating artificial intelligence systems.
This deal covers 191 megawatts of critical IT capacity at Riot's Rockdale campus in Texas, representing one of the most significant moves yet by a Bitcoin miner into the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.
Riot expects the agreement to generate about $9.1 billion in total contract revenue during the initial term and an estimated average annual net operating income of approximately $365 million to $411 million.
