Ripple Abandons Native Cross-Chain Bridge Amid Technical Issues
Ripple has asked the XRP Ledger community to retire XLS-38, its long-pending native cross-chain bridge amendment. The proposal suggests that the XRPL Native Bridge, which was designed to enable seamless interactions between the XRP Ledger and other blockchain networks, is no longer viable due to technical issues.
The company cites over 10,000 lines of dead code as a major reason for its decision. Dead code refers to code that is no longer used or functional in a program, and can often indicate deeper problems with the underlying architecture.
Ripple's move could have significant implications for the XRP Ledger ecosystem, which has been working to establish itself as a robust platform for cross-border payments and other financial applications. However, it also highlights the challenges of building decentralized systems that can interact seamlessly with each other.
