Ripple Abandons XLS-38 Cross-Chain Bridge in Favor of Axelar Integration

Ripple has recommended that the XRP Ledger community withdraw the long-running XLS-38 cross-chain bridge amendment. The company stated that the original goal behind XLS-38 was to allow seamless asset transfers between the XRPL mainnet and various custom sidechains.

However, Ripple noted that there is a lack of sufficient developer interest and demand for the amendment's intended functions. As a result, the company has chosen to integrate the Axelar network as the bridge solution for the EVM Sidechain instead.

Axelar offers interoperability with over 50 blockchain networks and employs a network of over 75 validators. Ripple made the decision to use Axelar in June 2024, while still allowing the community to vote on XLS-38 at that time.
