Ripple Backs Credit Fund for Fintech Loans on XRP Ledger
Ripple is backing an institutional credit fund that issues working-capital loans in its RLUSD stablecoin to fintech and payments companies on the XRP Ledger. The fund partners with lending platform Clearpool and credit manager Cicada Partners, which have facilitated over $1.8 billion of institutional loans combined since 2021.
Cicada will source borrowers, set loan terms, and monitor credit risk while Clearpool builds and manages the on-chain infrastructure for the lending pools. Ripple is investing as a limited partner alongside other institutions without guaranteeing losses.
The RLUSD stablecoin operates under New York Department of Financial Services oversight, and Bank of New York provides custody support. The fund's mainnet launch will depend on independent validators approving and activating the necessary amendments through XRPL's amendment voting process.
