Ripple Backs Native Lending Services on XRP Ledger
Ripple has voted in favor of two XRP Ledger amendments that will enable native lending services using XRP and other XRPL-issued assets. The amendments, known as XLS-65 and XLS-66, introduce single-asset vaults and a fixed-term lending protocol at the ledger level.
The changes require over 80% validator support for activation, with current support sitting around 40% and 37%. Security audits have found no critical flaws, but the amendments are not yet active on the mainnet. Developers are preparing applications to implement these features.
These upgrades aim to provide institutional credit checks off-chain, making it easier for lenders to assess borrowers' creditworthiness. The adoption of native lending services could increase liquidity and usage of XRP and other XRPL-issued assets.
