Ripple Bolsters Institutional Trading with LME Vet Joseph Thompson Hire
Ripple has made a significant move in its quest to expand into institutional finance and tokenized assets. The company has appointed Joseph Thompson, former senior VP and head of treasury at the London Metal Exchange, to its Trading and Markets team.
Thompson's expertise will support Ripple's expansion into tokenized real-world assets and integration of blockchain with traditional finance. This move aligns with Ripple's broader strategy to enhance institutional trading, prime brokerage, and market infrastructure using its XRP Ledger.
Ripple is also growing its Ripple Prime platform, which offers services like total return swaps and prime brokerage to institutional investors, backed by over $1 billion in regulatory capital and recent $275 million funding. This move highlights the company's commitment to strengthening its position in the institutional finance market.
