Ripple Bolsters Tokenized Capital Markets with Strategic Investments
Ripple has made strategic investments in two companies to expand access to tokenized financial assets on its XRP Ledger infrastructure. The company invested in Zilo, a global transfer agency asset solutions provider for wealth managers, and Licuido, a tokenization solutions provider regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority.
Financial details of the investments were not disclosed. Zilo has raised $58.7 million in total equity funding according to data compiled by Traxcn. The investment aims to bring regulated transfer agency, issuance, and collateral mobility to XRP Ledger.
Ripple expects these deals to address issues tied to idle collateral by enabling tokenized funds to be used as collateral from the point of issuance. This comes a week after London-based asset manager Aviva Investors launched a tokenized share class of its US Dollar Liquidity Fund on XRPL, receiving approval from the Central Bank of Ireland.
