Ripple CEO Optimistic About CLARITY Act Passage, Institutional Infrastructure Growth
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse spoke at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium, highlighting positive growth in crypto regulations and the need for clarity on regulatory frameworks. He rejected claims that the industry opposes regulations, citing Ripple's 75 licenses worldwide as evidence of its commitment to compliance.
Garlinghouse also addressed the CLARITY Act, stating that Ripple supports the legislation and is optimistic about its passage, despite a recent roadblock due to ethics provisions. Senators Tim Scott, Cynthia Lummis, and White House crypto Advisor Patrick Witt share his optimism.
Ripple's focus on bridging traditional finance (TradFi) and blockchain has been criticized in the past, but Garlinghouse views it as a strength in a growing regulatory environment. He emphasized that institutional infrastructure is driving growth in the crypto industry, with companies like Kraken achieving strong revenue despite market headwinds.
Garlinghouse noted that Ripple is on track for a record year, expecting to more than double its revenue YoY, and highlighted the company's recent acquisitions, including Hidden Road and GTreasury, which touch roughly $16 trillion in annual transaction volume. He sees potential for XRP Ledger to deliver meaningful improvements in speed, cost, and settlement for these large-scale transactions.
