Ripple CTO Calls Bitcoin Hard Fork Proposal an Attack Disguised as Reform
Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has spoken out against a recent Bitcoin hard fork proposal, calling it an 'attack disguised as reform.' The proposal, BIP-110, aimed to change Bitcoin's mining algorithm and block structure but failed to gain majority support. Schwartz argues that labeling the original Bitcoin chain 'legacy' and attempting to replace it breaks the rules of good faith debate.
The original Bitcoin network remains dominant in mining power, liquidity, and market recognition, while the fork is seen as a new coin with Bitcoin history, not a true upgrade. According to Schwartz, this approach is more about rebellion than improvement.
