Ripple CTO Emeritus Pushes Back Against XRP 'Ghost Chain' Claims

Ripple's Chief Technology Officer Emeritus David Schwartz has responded to criticism that the XRP Ledger is a 'ghost chain' due to its low usage and high fees.

Schwartz, who was an original architect of the XRP Ledger, called the claim a 'weird thing to say,' highlighting the platform's cheap transaction fees as one of its key advantages.

The Ripple executive also questioned whether higher fees would somehow make the XRP Ledger better, pointing out that it is used for various purposes such as tokenized real-world assets and decentralized liquidity.

In response to criticism, Schwartz noted that the XRP Ledger's usage continues to grow, with a distributed real-world asset market cap of $458.37 million and over 4.8 million agentic transactions.
