Ripple Donates $300K to Nepal Flood Relief Efforts

Share

Ripple has announced it will donate $300,000 to support relief efforts in Nepal and Tibet after catastrophic flooding left hundreds dead.

The disaster, which followed the collapse of glacial material near the Nepal-China border, has resulted in at least 669 confirmed deaths in Nepal and seven in Tibet, with nearly 3,000 people still missing. The Nepalese government estimates that reconstruction costs could reach $5 billion.

Ripple's donation will be split between two humanitarian organizations: World Central Kitchen and Mercy Corps. These groups are working to provide emergency meals, clean water, and sanitation programs in affected communities.

This is not the first time Ripple has supported disaster relief efforts. In 2023, the company donated after devastating earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria, and it continues to explore the use of its blockchain payments technology for humanitarian aid.
